The Above Artwork Is An Original From My Client, J. Kernek!
Hello Everyone,
Richard Russ, LMT (PA, OH) here,
I have studied many bodywork modalities in my twenty-four years of practice as a massage therapist. I always though that I was a fast learner. I THOUGHT that I knew a lot of “STUFF”. During those years, many questions continued to arise. I continuously noticed dysfunctional postural patterns in my clients that I could not understand and desperately wanted to “figure out.”
One day, my online search for answers pulled up some videos of this guy named David Weinstock, one of the developers of what is now known as NeuroKinetic Therapy. My curiosity was PEEKED!
I attended the Cleveland, OH level one Neurokinetic therapy course in March of 2017. I took that same course again in October of 2018 in Philadelphia, PA. I certified for NKT level one in the spring of 2019 and then took the NKT level two Course in March 2019, Philadelphia, PA.
It has been a two year, (plus) journey for me since then. NeuroKinetic Therapy, to say the least, has challenged my mindset and has been a PARADIGM SHIFT in the approach I take with clients.
My exposure to Neurokinetic Therapy, (NKT) has taken everything that I know and everything that I thought I knew and made me rethink it all, (MIND BLOWN)!
NKT utilizes client muscle testing, with the intent to access the clients motor control center in the brain. These tests identify if a clients muscles are over or under working. Once these imbalances are identified, the practitioner can then use this information to assist the client in correcting the dysfunctional movement patterns. After the treatment, simple and gentle, client corrective homework is assigned.
I am still somewhat of a “rookie” as it pertains to this modality and totally plan on continuing my training but non the less, I am still achieving great results for my clients with my limited training.
Below is a recent correspondence from an NKT client:
Hi Rick,
“I am so amazed by the work you did on me last week. I immediately tried to find a therapist who does NeuroKinetic Therapy. Guess what … NO one in my part of the eastern panhandle of West Virginia provides this treatment. Not surprised.
S0 – any chance you can send me the instructions for the exercises you told me – with the tennis ball?
I could not remember the directions, but I am still having a lot less pain.
I may just have to drive from here to you and have this done correctly. 😊
Anyway … thank you for learning NeuroKinetic Therapy. This is the longest that I am not in pain since May, 3 2018.”
Thank you, J. Kernek
